Scott Cam has led the tributes to Block tradesman Jon-Jeremy Bradey, who died earlier this month in Melbourne.
The ‘pool king’ appeared on several series of the hit show and was regarded as “one of the greatest heroes in the industry”.
Cam described Bradey as “an excellent tradesman” while commenting on the loss this week.
“It’s really very tragic as we’re like a family at The Block,” the 59-year-old said.
“The Block isn’t just about the cast and crew, it’s also about the tradespeople who support us over so many seasons.
“Jon was an excellent tradesman who built countless pools for contestants on the show and always did an expert job.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this time, and we’re so sorry to hear of his passing.”
Contestants Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson said they were “lucky” to have known the 42-year-old.
“We were lucky enough to meet Jon and work with him on The Block last year,” the couple told Daily Mail Australia.
“He was such a lovely, hardworking guy. He thought it was funny how tiny Kirsty was compared to all the tradesmen working on our house and suggested she get on the concrete pump and have a go herself.
“Of course, he had to stand behind her and make sure she didn’t take off into the air with the pump!”
Bradey was married to his wife, Candice Howman, and had three children, Anileese, Kobe and Amelia.
Bittersweet photos from their big day at Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast — just six months before his death — show how the couple were the picture of happiness as they tied the knot surrounded by family and friends.
Another video shows the pair dancing as family and friends cheer them on.
“It’s our 6 months anniversary today, miss & love you forever,” Mrs Howman wrote on Facebook earlier this week.
The Block ran a tribute to Mr Bradey at the end of Sunday’s show.
He helped work on Kirsty and Josh’s home in The Block’s 2021 season, and also concreted Josh and Luke‘s pool that year.
His attention to detail earned him the nickname “Mr 1 per cent”, because all of his work was finished with the highest quality.
Industry pal Reece Daniltchenko told the Herald Sun that Mr Bradey was an “industry icon”.
“Jon Jon was a devoted husband, father and friend, anything could be achieved when you had him in charge, which I had the privilege of witnessing first-hand,” he said.
“To have the opportunity to work with someone so reliable, trustworthy and a leader to his team, always gave me the confidence knowing that the end result will be delivered.”
Mr Bradey’s funeral took place on Monday.
His cause of death has not been revealed.
