Designer Heidi Carter and banker Michael Correa have bought a $9.1m Watsons Bay home following their $15.5m sale in Vaucluse.

The 1920s Pacific St home was secured off-market, having previously sold for $2,415,000 in 2002 when bought by the Greenblo family.

Correa, who directs Nest Alliance, a specialist sports and financial services group, and Carter, who founded the fashion line Paddo to Palmy, sold their Palmerston Street, Vaucluse home last spring.

It fetched $15.5m when bought by Stephen Knowles, the former chief growth officer of tech firm Dentsu, and his wife Kaye.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom 1960s home (above) was designed by late architect Peter Muller. Its 2019 update by interior designers Handelsmann and Khaw were costed at $749,000 in the Woollahra Council records.

Meanwhile, mystery still remains around the $14m buyer of a rundown Watsons Bay duplex which sold for $6m over its reserve at its March auction.

The buying company, Cherry Petal Pty Ltd, is directed by Steven Jankelowitz, the Ageis financial adviser who is acting on the mystery buyer’s behalf.

What's behind Australia's resurgent property market?

The mystery buyer was initially touted as Steven Lowy, the former Westfield director, and then speculation honed in on internet gambling tycoon Martin Moshel.

The company was established in the week prior to the sale.

The 402sq m Victoria St corner block had traded at $675,000 in 1998.

According to PropTrack, Watsons Bay is a very tightly held market, with just two houses sold over the past 12 months.

Lowy and his wife Judy, own several beachfront properties in the suburb, while Mad Max Fury Road director George Miller also owns there.
